For anyone coming to Europe we highly recommend staying at the renowned Welbeck Lodge (Collingham NG237QT) with Lisa, Kurt, Karson, Katherine and Maggie Schaedel. They are the most hospitable and generous hosts you ever could ever hope for. The time spent with them was splendid!
We enjoyed our trips to the local villages for the farmers market, pubs, sandwich shop, tours of old churches and castle ruins. They took us under their wing and gave us a vocabulary lesson. Teaching us that chips are steak fries, crisps are potato chips, napkins are serviettes, diapers are napkins, wellies are boots and our favorite word of the week....Kerfuffle!
The Lodge offers relaxing walks with Maggie in the field across the road down foot paths to the train tracks and back. The entertainment continued with Karson on sax and Katherine on the keyboards and guitar. The kids were a big help in the kitchen as we cooked up Italian meals and they made desserts. Kurt & Lisa made sure we never went thirsty with local beers, red wines and limoncello. All things considered anything less than a 5 star review would be a disservice. We offer many thanks and hope to be able spend some precious time in the future with the Schaedel's, hopefully returning the favor at our new gig...wherever that may be.
Cheers,
Paul & Jess
Sad to leave...we will miss the Schaedel family!
