Happy Anniversary to my best friend and partner in crime. 💖 How the time flies when you're having fun! The Pista ciclabile della Riviera Ligure is a pedestrian and cycle path, in the province of Imperia , between San Lorenzo al Mare and Ospedaletti with a flat, scenic path 24 km long. It was created by converting the coastal route of the old railway single track Genoa-Ventimiglia , decommissioned in 2001 and moved inland. We took the train to Arma di Taggia located approximately 1/2 way along the cycle path. Friday we biked the West half and Saturday the East side. It can be done in 1 day but we choose to explore the different villages and stop for lunch and of course take pictures along the way. We also watched some of the Barrel racing on the beach...don't see that everyday! Enjoy the slideshow below...if you have the patience to wait for it to load. Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Nice Tried to see this last year but it was enclosed in plastic for renovation. Curious what people think of this article on terrorism? Should the media dial it down? Do you know people who have changed their travel plans?
http://blog.ricksteves.com/blog/terrorism-whats-the-smart-response/ Tour of Grotte de Saint-Cézaire. We were given a guided tour by an old man who owns the property and spent many years exploring it. How neat would that be to find under your house!?! Vallée de la Siagne - loop hike from the village of St-Cézaire-sur-Siagne. We descended into a canyon, following a peaceful water canal making our way to the turquoise river below. Here we found an amazing waterfall that joined with an old roman bridge.
Great day trip to Entrevaux, a medieval village with tower entry and draw-bridge built in the bend of the beautiful Var river. We made our way through the village and then zig-zaging up through 20 fortified doorways to a 11th century citadel. Build into the rock this fortress would have been difficult to attack. We stayed for sunset with some great views of the surrounding valleys and some night shots of the village lights below.
More pic’s on the Riviera photo gallery Had a blast hosting Lisa over Carnival!
Stayed in a funky artsy flat in the old village of Nice with a view of the cathedral. We ate well, sampled every limoncello stand at the citrus festival and are still finding confetti from Carnival. You can see all the pics at: http://www.imagesbyjes.com/Travel/EUROPE-FRANCE-FRENCH-RIVIERA/ Location: Nice, Menton, Antibes, Saint Paul de Vence Sights: Vieille Ville Nice, Castle Hill, Cathedral Sainte-Réparate, 83th Fête du Citron, Carnival-King of media theme, Cap d'Antibes trail and St. Paul de Vence hilltop village Favorite food: socca, fresh pasta and gnocchi, crepes, risotto, scallop carpaccio, tropezienne cake and amaretti cookies. We loved our trip to Barcelona. They have it all: amazing architecture, markets, nightlife and tapas!!! You can see the entire photo gallery at this link: This spiritual montage is dedicated to the Mondragon family and the journey of grieving...may they find peace.
Cool alternative to a hotel, thanks to AirBnB Cannes Christmas market They have it all....champagne, oysters, mulled wine, tapas and Italian meat and cheese trays. Cannes film festival - red carpet, no celeb sightings - just these goons... Time for the big event at midnight We stink at selfies View of Cannes from the old town, Le Suquet
Having a pint of Christmas Cheer! Hmmm...interesting snow globe effect! Plaza Massena water park transformed at Christmas.
Hoping our family and friends are having an amazing holiday.
We love and miss you all so much!!! Big hugs, Jess and Paul Free Decorations made from items found on the property. Christmas market with the best ever mulled wine! Thinking of my friend Loretta!! The new 'outdoor' mall, gotta keep up with California! Christmas concert, old town Antibes Festive lights around town Santa's on his way....hope he likes my Rum Balls! Our new girls, 2 with fancy feet...they remind me of the big animal slippers I had as a kid, difficult to run in. The black one can be petted and is our only egg producer until the others grow their comb I'm told. The white one is our pirate chicken, somehow lost an eye but doesn't appear to be a fight, maybe a side effect from the antibiotics they received before they arrived. She's adjusting and hopefully we can get her to wear a cool eye patch! Cool caravan chicken coop Fun is trying to make pumpkin pie without a can opener (all pull tabs here) and when you finally do open it turning around and realizing the cabin we rented for the weekend doesn't even have an oven...priceless! Plan B: pumpkin pie shots = delish!! A national holiday...well almost! Celebrating the annual release of beaujolais nouveau wine. You learn more about this wine and the tradition here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaujolais_nouveau Fun times riding, hiking and drinking our way around Antibes. Jan has posted most already but I thought I'd also add to the blog these pics from our day trip. We stopped at a few marinas, hiked the coastal trail, walked through Old Antibes, had a pint or two at the English pubs and finished with some Absinthe at a cool basement bar where you get to wear fun hats and contemplate what the heck is in this drink?!! Spent some time in this nice village with our French instructor. Located an hour NW of us, with plenty of windy roads along the way! |
