Having a pint of Christmas Cheer! Hmmm...interesting snow globe effect! Plaza Massena water park transformed at Christmas.
Hoping our family and friends are having an amazing holiday.
We love and miss you all so much!!! Big hugs, Jess and Paul Free Decorations made from items found on the property. Christmas market with the best ever mulled wine! Thinking of my friend Loretta!! The new 'outdoor' mall, gotta keep up with California! Christmas concert, old town Antibes Festive lights around town Santa's on his way....hope he likes my Rum Balls! Our new girls, 2 with fancy feet...they remind me of the big animal slippers I had as a kid, difficult to run in. The black one can be petted and is our only egg producer until the others grow their comb I'm told. The white one is our pirate chicken, somehow lost an eye but doesn't appear to be a fight, maybe a side effect from the antibiotics they received before they arrived. She's adjusting and hopefully we can get her to wear a cool eye patch! Cool caravan chicken coop Fun is trying to make pumpkin pie without a can opener (all pull tabs here) and when you finally do open it turning around and realizing the cabin we rented for the weekend doesn't even have an oven...priceless! Plan B: pumpkin pie shots = delish!! A national holiday...well almost! Celebrating the annual release of beaujolais nouveau wine. You learn more about this wine and the tradition here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaujolais_nouveau Fun times riding, hiking and drinking our way around Antibes. Jan has posted most already but I thought I'd also add to the blog these pics from our day trip. We stopped at a few marinas, hiked the coastal trail, walked through Old Antibes, had a pint or two at the English pubs and finished with some Absinthe at a cool basement bar where you get to wear fun hats and contemplate what the heck is in this drink?!! Spent some time in this nice village with our French instructor. Located an hour NW of us, with plenty of windy roads along the way! Or should I say Flood! Massive storm hit the area this weekend and we were left in charge of finding and keeping leaks at bay. Luckily we caught a major breech into the house before it entered the lower level. Paul was able to free the blockage that was forming a river outside our building. The weather has cleared and now there is lots of clean up work including one large fallen tree. Hopefully there won't be too many of those...pretty rare thing here. Lunch with the staff enjoying some good food, drinking beer, wine and punch...what's the catch?!? We have said our goodbyes to the beautiful Mont Blanc and our friends in Megeve. Starting a new job in Antibes, which is between Nice and St. Tropez...very close to Cannes where they have the film festival. We have a year contract and hope to improve our French working with other 'only' French speaking staff. Weather will be similar to Phoenix with nice winters but more humid in the summer. Plan to spend our evenings watching sunsets by the sea! Stresa, Lake Maggiore Italy Our Airbnb rental in Chadodey, Italy.
Proud of my Mom for braving the long flight and scary roads to spend time with us. Come back soon, XoX Scenic shots from Megeve and the surrounding area...I'm still blown away by the beauty! Nice bike ride to the bio pool (no chemicals) in Combloux. Live music and drinks as a bonus, plus you can't beat the view! Check out the video: It's days like this!! It takes patience, planning and of course luck for the perfect weather to visit Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix. Once your legs stop shaking from the vertigo you can spend hours admiring Mont Blanc and the 360 vistas that include the Italian Alps. Altitude is 3842m (12,680ft) Even more amazing is the adventurous hikers and climbers who dare to walk on the glacier. Such a treat to see them at this perspective...while safely holding on to a hand rail :-) Happy Dale & Beaver Buddy Lisa could come for a short visit. “La Fête Nationale” is a nationwide holiday that commemorates the anniversary of the liberation of France marked by the storming of Bastille.
.....And I finally get my FIREWORKS! :-) 2 nights in Switzerland is not enough....I'll be back!
After visiting Kerri in Germany we found 2 cool pads on AirBnB, one right on Interlaken lake and the other in Veysonnaz. Our route went through Lucerne, Interlaken and thanks to my amazing driver we survived hundreds of hairpin turns going over Grimsel Pass.
