Time to explore the French Alps!
Our Airbnb rental in Villeneuve Loubet, just outside Nice. Located just down the street from where Auguste Escoffier was born. You can read more about him at: http://www.escoffier-society.com/biography.php Eze - a very cute but touristy village between Nice and Monaco. Due to the mountainous landscape of Corsica, farming is difficult and goats play an important role in providing meat, milk and wonderful cheese. Check out this video we took near the arched bridge in Ota: Following the coast and then heading inland to the center of Corsica...up to the pine trees. We hiked a portion of the long-distance Mare A Mare trail. Here are pics. as we followed the river up to the Cascade de Meli (next post). Trail Tête du chien (because of the dog shaped rock at the trailhead...I think it looks more like a ferret) Scandola Reserve - protected and only accessible by boat Option 1: D81, wide 2 lane road through the mountains. Option 2: D81B, B stands for oh Boy where are the guardrails? Wide enough for one car, windy, twisty along the coast, worth it of course! After leaving Saint Florent we traveled through the hills and emerged at the agua blue waters on the Northern coast. Including a sandwich stop from a road side shack with a view that can't be beat! From the top, day 1: We arrived on the late ferry with our rental car from Nice and spent the night in Saint Florent. A week in Corsica is not enough time to explore this amazing island. We concentrated on the Northern portion, driving counter clockwise from Bastia. Enjoy the ride in the many blog posts that will follow as we recap the beautiful sights... 5.5 hours from Nice |
